Watching fireflies has become a major attraction
for the district of Kuala Selangor where
draws large number of tourists from all
over the world. In fact, it has been listed
as a “must-see” agenda in numerous
international tour guides. Every night there
is a stream of electric driven motor boat
that ferry sight-seeing tourists up along
the Selangor River silently to listen to
the spectacular symphonic harmony of these
fireflies while viewing their luminous flashes
of light that is truly a magnificent sight
to the eyes of the beholder.
As you sail silently on a boat along the
riverbanks of the mangrove swamps, you can
hear the jungle animals settling down for
the night. And then, suddenly the trees
come alive with lights flickering on the
branches, just like the Christmas trees.
Fireflies that have made their homes in
the swamps emit these lights. As they fly
unerringly from tree to tree before alighting
on a branch, the fireflies seem to be orchestrating
a special light show for you. It is a show
not to be missed.
The toneless, powerful boat, which delivered
the passenger to the heart of the river,
roared in the flimsy voice, for fear that
she would wake up the deeply asleep night
and those fireflies were enjoying a sightseeing
trip in the silence. As the boat passed
a stretch of winding onto the surface of
the water, she agitated the tiny spindrift
as if a light dimple. It is an experience
to be cruising on a boat along the river
in the night to capture the beauty of this
natural wonder. The best time to watch is
1 – 4 hours after sunset. Our fleet
of modern fiberglass boats are electrically
powered, ensuring absolutely no noise and
air pollution.
The boat ride service starts from 7.45pm
to 10.30pm every night. Ticket can be purchased
at the ticketing counter.

Our modern, state-of-the-art jetty is built
with a very sturdy floating ramp that accommodates
the varying tidal levels of the river. This
ensures very safe embarking and disembarking
of boat passengers.
